This interactive installation piece was set up by Laura as a simple simulation of how it feels to be inside Laura’s mind, constantly surrounded and consumed by intrusive thoughts that are a common symptom of OCD and other mental illnesses. Whilst you can come and go from the piece, the artist (and many sufferers of OCD) can never leave and feel completely trapped inside their own heads. Laura’s work is usually of a performative nature and almost always includes herself in the piece, so why the difference with this work? Well, this piece, whilst lacking of the artist herself, employs the use of the audience as the performer. Her body becomes replaced with the body of the visitor, and you become the performer.
